Course Resources
These are the resources which we will be using in Grade 9 Core French. They will be provided to each child from the school itself. The basic elements and principles of art and design, which are introduced in the unit, become the guides for seeing and creating art. Lessons include discussions on sculpting, graffiti, colour palettes, doodling, and computer art. Students have opportunities to apply what they are learning to a number of small hands-on art projects. Students learn about and discuss the key elements of a Francophone TV newscast. They analyze the different components that are covered in such a newscast, including the weather forecast, entertainment or special-interest items, and sports. In this unit, students are equipped with the French "survival skills" necessary to cope in various situations that are likely to arise in the real life of a Canadian teen. Many students have travelled or will travel to a Francophone milieu, either within Canada or abroad. Students will research, read and discuss urban legends from a variety of cultures and countries. Students will participate in a variety of popular reading activities such as shared reading, guided reading, and literature circles.
